Welcome To My New Blog!

Welecome!

My name is Ralph Duncans Jr. I am an English teacher working at SBS in Imafuku Turumi. During the many years I have taught here, I have witness tremendous achievements by students from reading English and learning how to use a dictionary at the age of two years old to a five year student speaking and writing English sentences he thought of himself. There have been many such achievements that I have seen over the years. I will share these experiences with you. I hope you enjoy them.

March Classes

This month has been very fun! We got some new students. One student advance to the next level. In my first class the student is a two years old. He did a great job looking for the letters on a sheet filled with letters. His hearing is very good. He also repeats what I say with ease. I am so happy about that. He has started learning to use a dictionary. He enjoyed looking at the pictures inside of the dictionary. From the next class, I will put more emphasis on the alphabets and phonics. I hope he will be able to advance to the reading class by the end of this year. We play games with shapes and cards. The cards are action verbs, nouns, and adjectives. He is starting to remember the cards and say them verbally upon site. I am really excited about his hearing abilities. That is a great indicator that he should excel in the phonics games we play and eventually pass the phonics test. My second class is really cool. All of the students are doing grammar tests. They are doing very well. T...

My 6 o'clock Class

This class has one student in it sometimes two other students come. They two students are siblings. The two older students are at a high level of English. They can make sentences with one word and the can make sentences in all if the grammatical forms in English. They think of everything in their heads. They refer to their dictionaries when appropriate.  The other student is at the same level as my 5 o'clock class. He just changed times.  This week we practiced making sentences.

4:10 Class Today, we played games and sang songs. We practiced saying the ABCs and phonics. The students participated and spoke. We plays card games. The students have to pick the correct card from a group of cards. They are gradually memorizing the cards. I think one of them is actually reading some the words on the cards. We also played with blocks that had different shapes. This class is progressing well.
