4:10 Class

Ryuki (3) and Ryuha (1) did very well in class. We sang an ABC song and played two ABC games.  When I say the letters and the phonics, they repeat after me. We played some card games. We sang songs and counted our body parts. They are doing well in class.

5:00 Class

Ren(10) is very energetic. He is learning how to make seven different grammatical sentences with verbs. Today’s word was “block”. The sentence he thought of was “私はドアをふさいだことがあります。”  He understands what nouns, verbs and the articles - a, an, the.

The sentences he made with the word “block” are

1. I black a door.
2. The door is big.
3. I am blocking a door.
4. I have blocked a door.
5. I had blocked a door.

He has two more sentences to make.

1. There I am blocking a door.
2. There is a big door.

6:00 Class

The two students are learning to read. The students are 4 and five year old. They smasvamced to the reading class level two weeks ago. The four year old joined my class four months ago. The five year old student joined about a month ago. Both are very energetic and are soaking up the information very quickly. The reading lesson for today was:

Let’s Play Together

A. Where are you going?
B. I am going home.
A. What will you do?
B. I will play a game.
A. I want to play a game too.
B. Let’s play together.
A. Thank you.
B. You are welcome.

A vocabulary list is accompanied with this conversation.

7:00 Class

This class has four students in it. The students are from six years old to a sixth grader. In this class, the students are earning how to make questions from statements. This class is really fun. The sixth grader is new to the class and naturally a bit overwhelmed at the knowledge the other three students have. The class is easy so she will reach their level soon.

The statement we used today was

“I climb a big mountain everyday. “

The question this made was “Who climbs a big mountain every year?”

They are doing superb in class.

March Classes

This month has been very fun! We got some new students. One student advance to the next level. In my first class the student is a two years old. He did a great job looking for the letters on a sheet filled with letters. His hearing is very good. He also repeats what I say with ease. I am so happy about that. He has started learning to use a dictionary. He enjoyed looking at the pictures inside of the dictionary. From the next class, I will put more emphasis on the alphabets and phonics. I hope he will be able to advance to the reading class by the end of this year. We play games with shapes and cards. The cards are action verbs, nouns, and adjectives. He is starting to remember the cards and say them verbally upon site. I am really excited about his hearing abilities. That is a great indicator that he should excel in the phonics games we play and eventually pass the phonics test. My second class is really cool. All of the students are doing grammar tests. They are doing very well. T

The First Class We started with introductions. Today’s emphasis was phonics. This year’s goal is for the students to pass the phonics test and start reading by the end of the day. We practiced how to choose to use “A” or “An” with singular nouns. The students had a great time doing that.  We sang songs too. We played a couple of ABC games. During the phonics practice, the two year old student repeated lots of the sounds. That was a great sign. I showed them some verb cards and said sentences corresponding to the verb. The students had to select the correct card. If the wrong card was selected, I said, “Try again.” The three year old student is already familiar with the sentences. I think the reason is that he is able to read the verb on the card, because of the the way he looks at the card.   Today, the two year old comprehended “Try again” and immediately selected another card. The three year old student requested to play with his dictionary and find words. I was shocked.

Monday’s Classes

ee year old student understood its meaning. Fortunately, the two year old grasped the meaning to day. While we were playing the action verb card games, I am very sure the three year old student was reading the cards or at the very least recognizing the sounds and possibly other letter sounds of the letters in the words. I hope so, but I will make the game a little more challenging for more clarification. This class has is very fun and challenging. The goal for the next several months is to have both students pass the phonics. The second class was fun. There are two students in the class. Today activity was actually a test. They stated a subject and verbs test during the last class. I explain to them how to do the test. We went over five problems. Today, they continued with the test. The ages  of the students are for and five. The four year old student did well. She is about have way finished with the test. The five year old has about five more problems to do. This test is very simple
