4 o’clock Class

We sang songs and played some card games. One of the students looked up words in a dictionary, while the other student searched for words on an ABC letter search A4 placard. We did phonics practice too. I asked the students, “How are you?” The natural answer is “I am fine”, but in reality any reply is fine, so I asked that question, then showed them some adjectives cards to which they are to answer, “I am ....” plus the adjective the card is displaying. We all counted our body parts. I had them count individually. The funny thing is that the one year old says repeats after me, and he also repeats after the older student as well. Concerning the dictionary, the three year old student is looking up words. That is great. I will be happy when he starts finding three to four words in the time allotted.  The one year old student asked for the ABC placard himself as soon as he saw me grab a dictionary. I am anticipating the three year old student to pass the phonics test in about six months and the one year old student to pass is a month or two afterwards. The students are doing well.

5 o’clock Class

The student in this class moved to the 7 o’clock class. Everyone in that class are at the same level.

6 o’clock Class

The students in this class are reading the second conversation called “Let’s Go Shopping”. They are doing great. The students are four and five years old. Today, we did some translations. They write themselves. If needed I write more legibly. They are doing very well and the pace of the class is getting faster and faster. I will talk to their parents and inform their parents that they are doing well enough that they can advance to the next level after they finished the next conversation. Wow!

7 o’clock Class

The students are doing great. They are learning to make questions from sentences. The goal is for them to ask questions naturally like native English speakers. Everyone is participating actively. They are answering the questions I ask themselves. I am hoping that they will be able to advance to the next level in a couple of months.

March Classes

This month has been very fun! We got some new students. One student advance to the next level. In my first class the student is a two years old. He did a great job looking for the letters on a sheet filled with letters. His hearing is very good. He also repeats what I say with ease. I am so happy about that. He has started learning to use a dictionary. He enjoyed looking at the pictures inside of the dictionary. From the next class, I will put more emphasis on the alphabets and phonics. I hope he will be able to advance to the reading class by the end of this year. We play games with shapes and cards. The cards are action verbs, nouns, and adjectives. He is starting to remember the cards and say them verbally upon site. I am really excited about his hearing abilities. That is a great indicator that he should excel in the phonics games we play and eventually pass the phonics test. My second class is really cool. All of the students are doing grammar tests. They are doing very well. T

The First Class We started with introductions. Today’s emphasis was phonics. This year’s goal is for the students to pass the phonics test and start reading by the end of the day. We practiced how to choose to use “A” or “An” with singular nouns. The students had a great time doing that.  We sang songs too. We played a couple of ABC games. During the phonics practice, the two year old student repeated lots of the sounds. That was a great sign. I showed them some verb cards and said sentences corresponding to the verb. The students had to select the correct card. If the wrong card was selected, I said, “Try again.” The three year old student is already familiar with the sentences. I think the reason is that he is able to read the verb on the card, because of the the way he looks at the card.   Today, the two year old comprehended “Try again” and immediately selected another card. The three year old student requested to play with his dictionary and find words. I was shocked.

Monday’s Classes

ee year old student understood its meaning. Fortunately, the two year old grasped the meaning to day. While we were playing the action verb card games, I am very sure the three year old student was reading the cards or at the very least recognizing the sounds and possibly other letter sounds of the letters in the words. I hope so, but I will make the game a little more challenging for more clarification. This class has is very fun and challenging. The goal for the next several months is to have both students pass the phonics. The second class was fun. There are two students in the class. Today activity was actually a test. They stated a subject and verbs test during the last class. I explain to them how to do the test. We went over five problems. Today, they continued with the test. The ages  of the students are for and five. The four year old student did well. She is about have way finished with the test. The five year old has about five more problems to do. This test is very simple
