4:10 Class

Today, the students sang and played some card games. We focused on phonics and using a dictionary. One of the students who is three years old has just start looking up words in a dictionary. The other student who is one year old is recognizing the ABC cards that I show him and he he able to find that letter on a card with all the letters on the alphabet on it. The one year old student is beginning to repeat more of the phonics that I say. I am hoping that he will pass the test within the next four to six months. Both students are gradually staring to say the names of the cards I show them. That is a grear thing. I am hoping that both students will pass the phonics test we have by April of 2019 and advance to the reading class level.

Today we continued to make sentences with on word. The student understands what to do. His level is advancing weekly. Today’s sentences that were made was “A beaver had blown a tree.” This sounds strange, but it is fine. Next week I will show Hime how to make questions from statements. His understanding is great. I am happy

Today, we continued to read “LET’S GO SHOPPING”. The students reading is great. Both of the students  read more than 70%  of the story correctly. We started translating the story in to Japanese for comprehension purposes. Next week we will play a reading game. If their reeding skills for the next conversation is good, I will start teaching them basic grammar. The students are very active and very happy in class

March Classes

This month has been very fun! We got some new students. One student advance to the next level. In my first class the student is a two years old. He did a great job looking for the letters on a sheet filled with letters. His hearing is very good. He also repeats what I say with ease. I am so happy about that. He has started learning to use a dictionary. He enjoyed looking at the pictures inside of the dictionary. From the next class, I will put more emphasis on the alphabets and phonics. I hope he will be able to advance to the reading class by the end of this year. We play games with shapes and cards. The cards are action verbs, nouns, and adjectives. He is starting to remember the cards and say them verbally upon site. I am really excited about his hearing abilities. That is a great indicator that he should excel in the phonics games we play and eventually pass the phonics test. My second class is really cool. All of the students are doing grammar tests. They are doing very well. T

The First Class We started with introductions. Today’s emphasis was phonics. This year’s goal is for the students to pass the phonics test and start reading by the end of the day. We practiced how to choose to use “A” or “An” with singular nouns. The students had a great time doing that.  We sang songs too. We played a couple of ABC games. During the phonics practice, the two year old student repeated lots of the sounds. That was a great sign. I showed them some verb cards and said sentences corresponding to the verb. The students had to select the correct card. If the wrong card was selected, I said, “Try again.” The three year old student is already familiar with the sentences. I think the reason is that he is able to read the verb on the card, because of the the way he looks at the card.   Today, the two year old comprehended “Try again” and immediately selected another card. The three year old student requested to play with his dictionary and find words. I was shocked.

Monday’s Classes

ee year old student understood its meaning. Fortunately, the two year old grasped the meaning to day. While we were playing the action verb card games, I am very sure the three year old student was reading the cards or at the very least recognizing the sounds and possibly other letter sounds of the letters in the words. I hope so, but I will make the game a little more challenging for more clarification. This class has is very fun and challenging. The goal for the next several months is to have both students pass the phonics. The second class was fun. There are two students in the class. Today activity was actually a test. They stated a subject and verbs test during the last class. I explain to them how to do the test. We went over five problems. Today, they continued with the test. The ages  of the students are for and five. The four year old student did well. She is about have way finished with the test. The five year old has about five more problems to do. This test is very simple
